Scoring

Decision Method

(Weighted) Scoring means everyone evaluates the options on various criteria. The best decision is calculated with a formula.

Purpose

Weighted Scoring is a systematic decision-making approach wherein participants evaluate multiple options based on a set of predefined criteria. Rather than relying on subjective judgment alone, each option is assigned scores for each criterion. These scores might be multiplied by the weight or importance of that particular criterion, ensuring that more critical factors have a greater influence on the final decision. After scoring all options across the various criteria, a formula is employed to calculate a cumulative score for each option. The option with the highest total score emerges as the most favorable or best decision. This method provides a structured, transparent, and objective framework for group decisions, ensuring that choices are both informed and balanced.

Notes

By providing a clear framework for evaluation, weighted scoring facilitates a more objective and consistent decision-making process, aiding individuals and groups in making informed choices.
