Delegation Level

You make a decision for others and you may explain your motivation.

Delegation Levels: Tell β€’ Sell β€’ Consult β€’ Agree β€’ Advise β€’ Inquire β€’ Delegate

Purpose

You first leave it to the others to decide, and afterward, you ask them to convince you of the wisdom of their decision.

Notes

Example: A mother knows that Boyfriends cannot be anything else than level 6, and, therefore, she gently inquires about the name and background of her daughter’s latest object of desire.

The β€œseven levels of delegation” are borrowed from Management 3.0.

Rules / Constraints

  • We have not yet defined rules or constraints.

β€œThe inability to delegate is one of the biggest problems I see with managers at all levels.”
