M30+unFIX: Shaping the Future of Work Together

Author: Jurgen Appelo

I’m thrilled I could finally announce the big news last week: unFIX and Management 3.0 are officially joining forces! Getting here has been a journey, but we’re ready to take on the future together.

This collaboration might seem like a natural next step to some, but let me tell you—it is far easier to announce than to make happen. In June, JC Conticello (CEO) first let me know the Management 3.0 team was preparing for a pivot. At the time, I was gearing up for a two-month Caribbean adventure (yes, I know, tough life!), so I didn’t have much headspace to dive into the details. But the trip gave me the peace and clarity I needed to reflect on my own journey with the unFIX team.

When September rolled around and vacations were behind us, our two teams—spanning five countries (Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and Spain)—began informal talks about the future of management, leadership, and organization design. It was an exciting but complex challenge. Merging two existing businesses is no walk in the park—especially when both need to keep their shops open throughout the process. And because nothing was finalized, we couldn’t announce anything until all the pieces fell into place.

Thankfully, they did. On November 25, we reached an agreement, and we could finally break the silence: unFIX and Management 3.0 will start merging their offerings in January 2025! Not only that, but we’ll also reimagine the future of work in the age of AI and pivot to a different business model, and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead.

Some of you have been wondering about the unFIX brand, and I appreciate your patience. The truth is, something had to happen. The agile movement is losing steam, but managers need more guidance than ever. It’s time for a new approach.

Stay tuned—more updates will come within a few days and weeks: purpose, values, principles, branding, business model, and … No, I will keep that a secret for a little while longer. 😉

Thanks for your unwavering support!

Jurgen
